Project Life 2015: September

Hey everyone! It feels like forever and a day since my last Project Life update! Probably like a whole month or something?

Anyway, I’m back today with my September spread. I didn’t have many pictures for this month, in fact, I didn’t have anything until the 3rd week of September! It’s funny how, as the year progressed, I took less and less pictures! I need to remind myself to just stop and grab the phone (I take all my pictures on my phone) to record our memories, however mundane they seem. My goal for next year’s Project Life is to do better with my pictures and memory keeping.

But for now, here is my spread for September. I used an old favourite in terms of colours, as well as my usual tricks. But I did try one new thing: stamping directly on my pictures. The jury is still out on this one. I like that in the long run, it is going to be cheaper than buying endless lots of letters stickers. But it is quite fiddly to stamp all those tiny letters. I guess it’s a question of practice. Putting down teeny letters stickers is also a little bit fiddly, ha!

Here’s the video, the links to the inks and stamps can be found underneath!

Haul and updates

Hello, strangers! That’s not a very inspired blog title, but that’s all I can come up with this morning, how sad!
The Spring school holidays have finished and I feel rejuvenated (sort-of) and ready to come back to my blog and Youtube channel. I have been missing you!

There’s a video down below, but first, I wanted to mention that I have some of my art for sale, in digital files, here on my blog. You can choose from 3 different pieces (or buy all 3!!), download them to your computer and print them at home or at your favourite printing place. Here is a little preview for you!

To find them, simply click on Downloads / Art Journal Extracts up there in my menu bar, or here!

And now for the video, where I explain a bit more about, well, everything, really…

Scrapbook Process #9 – And so, it begins

After a long and never-ending winter (or so it seemed), Spring has finally turned up. For my family, that means that lengthy walks on the beach can now resume. We go to the beach all year round, but especially so in the warmer seasons.
I took this picture of my son Leon and his dad just over a week ago and I knew then I was going to scrapbook this one. It was the first time that Leon walked on the beach. He had been there before, of course, but it was the first time that he walked, himself, on his own two feet. It’s something that should be remembered, right?

Anyway, I was feeling it was time to get it done, this morning, so I printed the picture on my home printer (it does a decent job, by the way) and set to work. I’m really happy with how it turned out, but you tell me what you think!

Scrapbook Process #8 – Lovely Dream

Hey friends! I’m pretty sure it’s still Monday somewhere in the world, so I’m still on time for my self-imposed schedule of a new video on Mondays. Phew!

This is another wedding photo layout. I had a bunch of those printed up after the wedding (7 years ago!) and a few others that I printed up last year when I made an album for my mum, so I’m just using them up, right?! My scrapbooking almost always starts with an idea of how I want the page to look, and I choose the picture(s) accordingly.
But moving on. I fell in love with the Crate Paper Craft Market Stitched paper the moment I had it in my hands. And I kind of knew, then, what I wanted to do with it. I knew I wanted to colour it. Fast forward a few weeks and my original idea became more refined. What is really exciting is that it turned out just as I had hoped!

Here is the video to have a peek into my process.

Because of the beautifully bright background papers, I felt it didn’t need much embellishing at all. I guess that it is more my style. Why I love people’s layouts with lots and lots of pretty embellishments, I think I prefer mines a bit more subdued!

Here is a small products list if you are interested in any of the products I have used!

Project Life 2015: weeks 34 & 35

Hey everyone! It’s a beautiful Friday here today, so I’m going to keep this one short and sweet, because the outdoors are calling me!
I had very little time to film, edit and narrate a process video this week (if you want to know why, check the beginning of my previous video, here:, but I managed to do it all in record time. I’m sure you’re all as happy as I am!

But without further ado, here’s the video:

Project Life 2015: weeks 31 to 33

Hey everyone! It’s Friday! Woohoo! And it looks like it’s going to be a stunning day here on the South Island!

Friday also means that I am back with a new Project Life process video. This week’s episode, I’m catching up on 3 weeks in one spread. As it happened, I had only one photo for week 32, and not that much more for weeks 31 and 33, so I bundled them all up onto one spread. And I’m fine with that! Sometimes, life gets so busy that you forget to take pictures and that’s cool. Also, I don’t want to start stressing about making sure I’ve got enough photos for our Project Life album. While I want to record our daily lives, I also want it to be a fun thing to sit down to do, week after week.

Tackling 3 weeks in one spread also had the unexpected side-effect of being just about caught up. I’m not sure what I’ll do when I will be just a week behind, as I like to work 2 weeks on 1 spread. I have a few ideas, but we’ll see.

Anyway, here’s the video. The links to some of the products used can be found further down the page.

Scrapbook Process #7 – Happy & Cute

Hello Monday! It’s rather cold and windy down here, perfect weather to spend some time with beautiful pictures of one of your favourite small people and pretty papers. Which is exactly what I did this morning, and I recorded my whole process for you guys to have a look!

This one came together VERY quickly! If you exclude the time I spent stitching little hearts, but even that didn’t take very long at all.
I used my little stash of Crate Paper’s Wonder collection, which made the whole process even faster as I didn’t have to guess if papers and embellishments would work together! To be fair, I had an idea of what I wanted to do before I started – I really wanted to punch some circles and stitch them on my background. So when I actually started, I just needed to figure out where I wanted my pictures and title to be (this is what took me the longest).

I REALLY love how this one turned out. It helps that Lucas was adorable on these pictures. And I love the papers (maybe I should get more, before they all disappear from the shops…)
But anyway, here’s the video!

You can find most of the Crate Paper Wonder goodness by following these links:

Project Life 2015: Weeks 27 to 30

What happens when you don’t have many photos for a whole month? Well, you make do with what you’ve got and you vow to take more pictures in the future (though, at this point, I’m not sure August is looking better…).
I was also short on time for this week’s spread. I’m trying to keep to my weekly schedule, more for myself than anything else. And I just like going through my album, seeing it filling up, week after week. So, I was short on time, and when I’m rushed, I just go back to basics. For me, basics at the moment means black and white, plus an accent colour. Gold, this week. I seem to be liking gold quite a bit lately. It just seems to works.

I’m hoping to be back on Monday with a traditional 12×12 layout.
Have a nice weekend everyone!
